Macquarie Island situated between Australia and Antarctica has been rocked by a 6.5 magnitude earthquake. A tremor 10km below the sea floor was recorded west of Macquarie Island in the South Pacific Ocean just before 7pm on Sunday. The Bureau of Meteorology said there was no tsunami threat to Australia. No aftershocks have been registered so far.
