An earthquake of magnitude 6.8 struck near the coast of Port-Olry, Vanuatu, automatically triggering a tsunami warning for nearby areas but subsequently lifted once a depth of 500km+ was established
The quake was at a depth of 507 km and was about 19 km north-west of Port-Olry. The USGS had initially put the magnitude at 7.1 and the depth at 83.3 km.
