Tsunami threat issued for Japan canceled after a 6.8 earthquake rocks Kyushu

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 hit Kyushu, the third-largest island of Japan’s four main islands, on Thursday, according to the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).

The quake was recorded at a depth of 37 kilometers, with the epicenter registered at eight kilometers east-south-east of the city of Miyazaki and 95 kilometers east-north-east of the seaside city of Kagoshima. No casualties or material damages have been reported so far.
