Active Region 13912 near the western limb just unleashed a strong X2.3 solar flare at 09:06 UTC December 8th. The blast was associated with a type II radio emission with a velocity of 628 km/s. A short lasting Coronal Mass has been ejected from the solar corona but the main bulk seems to be heading well west of Earths position and it is therefore very unlikely that any geomagnetic storming will result from this event.
