Departing Active Region (AR 2992) just produced the strongest solar flare of Solar Cycle 25 unleashing a X2.2 event at 03:57 UTC (April 20). The rapid growth of this active region produced three significant flares in the last 12 hours. an M3.7 not long after an M7.3 then the X-Class flare followed. A strong Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) will be directed well away from Earth and will not have an earth directed component.
