The first X-Class solar flare for 2025!
A major X1.2 Solar Flare was just unleashed at 11:39 UTC January 3rd around newly numbered Active Region 13947 in the northeast quadrant. This event was very impulsive and short lasting and unlikely to have produced a large coronal mass ejection. An R3 Level Radio Blackout was also associated with this event.
