Impulsive X2-Class Solar Flare | February 23, 2025

An impulsive X2.0 solar flare (R3 Radio Blackout) was unleashed at 19:27 UTC February 23rd. The Active Region responsible was 14001 which is now moving off the northwestern limb. A CME is now visible on solar telemetry but the general mass is directed well away from the Earth line and there will not be a geomagnetic storm from this solar blast. Solar activity should move into a quiet phase once this active region rotates off the solar disk however there are a series of strong coronal holes moving into an earth-facing position in the coming days that should elevate solar winds.
