Annular Solar Eclipse ‘Ring Of Fire’ October 2nd, 2024

A “ring of fire” annular solar eclipse will flash across the Southern Hemisphere on Oct. 2, 2024. On Oct. 2, an annular solar eclipse will be visible from the Southern Hemisphere. During this event, the moon doesn’t completely cover the sun from our perspective on Earth, so it leaves a “ring of fire” around the moon. An annular solar eclipse will occur at the Moon’s descending node of orbit on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, with a magnitude of 0.9326. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, thereby totally or partly obscuring the image of the Sun for a viewer on Earth.
